Peru is a megadiverse country that harbors half the world's biodiversity of some taxonomical groups. However, its biodiversity is being lost due to human activities, the number of species inhabiting Peru is uncertain, and the number of new species that are in need of taxonomical description is unknown.
CEBIO’s Scientific Expeditions is a unique opportunity to explore different areas of Peru and help us discover and better understand our biodiversity while conducting biological inventories. By collaborating on this big project, you will help generate data for several hundred species of plants and animals. These data will be used to establish the threat status for individual species while simultaneously identifying key areas of conservation priority.
We encourage you to join us in exploring the many places in Peru and documenting all the wonderful biodiversity it has to offer.
